Technical elements of the QAÏTO Q10 pellet burner – Berlin and in Germany
The QAÏTO Q10 pellet burner is composed of 3 elements:
- a cast iron burner with a height of 105 mm.
o this crucible or ‘lamellar cast iron basket’ is perforated by 5 mm slots to allow combustion air to pass without entire pellets passing through the slots
o its external diameter is 250 mm and its internal diameter is 220 mm
o its weight is 4.30 kg +/- 5% - (all products are not exactly identical)
o the cast iron is of type GL 220, lamellar cast iron used for fireplace hearths and wood stoves
o the cast iron crucible holds between 1.8 kg and 2 kg of wood pellets.
o NB: for small fireplaces, it is recommended to only put 1.7 kg to allow better air circulation and therefore better combustion
- a round jacket in stainless steel 240 mm in diameter on the edges of which rests the burner
o a few millimeters of space between the jacket wall and the burner allows air to circulate all around the cast iron.
o the pellets are thus constantly bathed in a stream of air to facilitate their combustion
o NB: the 2 pegs or studs of the jacket are not used for the Q10 (see Q20)
- a plate round in stainless steel with a diameter of: 238 mm
o this plate fits inside the round jacket, pegs downwards to allow combustion air to circulate under the plate
o it is pierced in the middle by a 120 mm diameter opening, intended to let combustion air pass to the center of the burner
The total net weight of the QAÏTO Q10 is 5.6 kg.
The total height of the Q10 pellet burner installed in your fireplace is 120 mm (12 cm).
It is recommended, to be able to easily refuel the burner, to leave a height of 15 to 20 cm between the top of the burner and the top of your fireplace.
You will avoid burning your hand during refueling and will enjoy beautiful flames that can fully express themselves.
Important information: 1 kg of pellets represents 4.6 kW of available calorific power. Therefore, 1.8 kg of pellets corresponds to 8.28 kW rounded to 9 kW. This is not the heating power (efficiency) which depends on the fireplace and the installation.
The approximate - non-contractual (*) - duration of a pellet load in a Q10 is:
- total combustion: about 60 min +/- 15%
- flame duration: 30 to 40 min depending on the combustion airflow
- burner heating duration: several hours as the cast iron accumulates heat.
(*) Each installation, each home, each lifestyle habit being a unique case, the manufacturer cannot commit to an exact combustion duration.
